Back around the ‘90s a community social worker, her son, and an economist turned entrepreneur (all of them Puerto Rican), decided to band together and build Hostal Casa Culebra.  Drawn by the beauty of its natural resources and the uniqueness of the history of its people, they strived to design a space that would entice its guests to forget hectic schedules, roles, and stratagems, and simply enjoy the Culebra lifestyle, a natural lifestyle with disregard to deadlines and hustle and bustle, while revering nature and outdoor living.

In the beginning, all the guests wore familiar faces, because they were basically friends and relatives. But discretion not being their forte, they spread the

word about the place, so that it became the best known secret in town, and ultimately became what is considered the great family at Hostal Casa Culebra.

Yet even today, despite the broader range of guests that visit, all those who arrive share a common denominator: a deep respect for Culebra’s cultural and natural diversity.

It’s not that easy to get to Culebra; some planning and coordination are required. But for the owners, that is part of the charm.  Those who come, and come back, are the ones looking, not for luxury and noisy, alienating entertainment, but for a place to get in touch with themselves and with nature.

The activities sponsored or recommended by the guest house are designed for the adventuresome side we all have within, respectful of nature and of the place that welcomes you, eager to recapture the taste of the essential things forgotten in the rhythm of daily life.  Thus the informal treatment of guests, the simplicity of the accommodations, and the disposition to offer the hostel to anyone who wants quiet enjoyment in the utmost confidence that he or she will be satisfied.
